Notice: According to Friday's (Aug. 30, 2013) Admin. minutes, the new Moodle really is coming; therefore, I have suspended this project. If you currently use the old Moodle, please let me know and I will make videos upon your request. Otherwise, I plan to find other ways to spend my free time. Thanks for your understanding and support!
Cheers,
Lesley

CAT Moodle Tutorial Page
Once upon a time, I was able to take a course from a man who can only be described as a Moodle guru. I honestly haven't used everything he's taught me, but I do well with Moodle. CAT may not have the latest version of Moodle but having an LMS (learning management system) is better than not having an LSM. Therefore, since I know there is no Moodle training for the new teachers, this is where I will try to help you asynchronously. I know my preps don't align with your busy schedules, but we are past the days of actually having to go to a place to take a class, right? Instead, here are some videos that will help you figure out CAT's version of Moodle and you can watch them over and over again until you get it. (Or you can find me, too. Most of you know where I live...) ;-)
Enjoy!

(p.s. Feel free to make any requests for other videos. Now that I know how to use CamStudio, everything is game. Haha!)

Part 1: The basicsThis is the first video you should watch. I go over how to set up the topic blocks and some of the basic editing features.
(p.s. I didn't realize how blurry this would be, but if you watch it in full screen mode, you should be able to see everything you need to. I tried recording it in other ways but it doesn't work as well as seeing the whole screen.) |
Part 2: Adding resourcesIn this video you will see how to add different resources like labels, documents, links, and document directories. These features are all about adding a wealth of resources to your page and giving your students a on-stop place to find your syllabus or other important documents or websites.
|
Part 3: Assignment UploadsIn this video I will show you how to create an assignment and how you can configure the settings so that it fits your needs. You will also see how to grade the assignments and leave descriptive feedback for your students.
|
Part 4: Discussion ForumsIn this video I show you how to create a forum and the many different formats it can take. I will show you a forum I had used in the past and what that looks like when we play with the settings of the forum.
