These are the apps you can use for yourself and in class, listed in no particular order (basically as I've thought of them or found them). They are widely used and highly recommended. But as always, let me know if you have any more that I should add to the list.

Apps Gone Free

This is an app you HAVE to have. Who doesn't want free apps? This will tell you what apps have "gone free" for that day. Many of them are games, but there are some productivity apps that are nice to have around. Make sure you let it push notifications!

Google Chrome

You love it on your computer, so you'll love it here. Instead of the default Safari, get the Google Chrome app and you will have tabs when you're browsing the web as opposed to Safari's many pages that you flip between.

Google Drive

Create and store documents that can be converted into Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Bonus: You can work on these documents from any device!

Google Docs

Drive has changed. Drive is the app that lets you find your documents quickly, but Docs is the app that will open if you want to edit your documents. Honestly, I never open Docs except through Drive, but if you have Drive, you'll need Docs.

Virtual field trips... You could take your students to places around the world without having the headache of permission slips!

Playtube

This app lets you search for YouTube videos and play them on your iPad. You can even download them and make playlists.

This is a great place to store documents and photos and other things that are important to you.

Evernote

Keep what's important to you in one place that you can reach from any device. Evernote is an app for taking notes and archiving.

Skype

Use Skype to make your iPad into a phone. While you can use Facetime, that only works with users who have iDevices, but Skype lets you contact others.

It's not just for iPhones, people! You can download this app and it will find iPods and iPads for you. If you have the "Find iPhone" app installed on another device, you will find your missing iDevice with ease.

Feedly

If you've been using Google Reader to follow your favorite blogs, get Feedly before Google Reader closes (July 1, 2013) and you can transition from Google Reader to Feedly without any trouble.

Make your own personalize magazine with Flipboard. Choose the topics you are interested in and/or the publications and flip on through the latest current events.

Newsy connects you to multiple news sources so that you can compare and contrast as stories unfold.

It's an online dictionary and thesaurus that I'm sure you already use. Encourage your students to use it as well to help them learn how to amplify their vocabulary.

This is what your students do during their free time... They learn random facts using StumbleUpon.

CloudOn brings Microsoft Office to your Dropbox, Drive, and SkyDrive accounts AND there's a built in Adobe Reader that helps you see PDF's, JPG's, GIF's, PNG's, etc.
